Decoding Claude: E02 - More Desks, Same Boss

Share

So you finally employed someone to do the tasks you had planned. If you missed how the loop works, start with E01. Spoiler: you have hired AI. Now, what is the role of this employee supposed to be? Do you want him to be responsible for accounting, IT, HR all at once?

Imagine you have a super effective IT guy. He is clever, and enthusiastic to do whatever you ask the moment you ask.

Imagine you need someone to attend some phone calls. You ask your IT guy, and as always he enthusiastically jumps at the opportunity. He answers all the incoming calls. He might not know how you like your customers to be greeted, he might not know how exactly you want him to take notes and report back to you. He just jots everything down into a notepad. New appointments, sales calls, lunch invitations all simply in one notepad.

You ask him to do your taxes, and he does that too. He just takes the password right from inside your laptop. He is in IT. Of course he did. He logs into your accounting software and does your taxes, but files everything under the wrong category. You only find out six months later when the letter arrives.

Role Assignment

That is why you want to define separate job roles and give each person access to only what they need. Assign each employee their own laptop, their own filing cabinet, their own badge. The badge is the important part. It only opens the doors relevant to their job. The file clerk cannot walk into the server room by accident. His badge does not open that door.

The AI office works the same way. The LLM takes your prompt, breaks it into tasks, and routes each one to the right specialist through a Tool Dispatch. Each tool has a defined job and a defined scope. The file reader reads. The writer writes. The editor edits. None of them can wander.

Here is what that looks like in practice.

New hire. Same boss. Same process. The manager does not learn a new way to give orders every time someone new joins the team. The office just gets one more desk.

But here is the thing about a busy office full of specialists. Someone has to keep track of what is done and what is not. Without that, even the best team starts to drift.
